A stampede of excited dogs collided in comically chaotic ways as they made their way into the yard at their doggy daycare, as captured in dramatic footage.
The Georgia-based Sawnee Dog Retreat posted the footage of the massive pooch pile-up to TikTok, where it has now been seen 13 million times.
Sawnee Dog Retreat is a very popular doggy day care and boarding establishment, with hundreds of dogs hanging out at any given time.
Rawson Livezey, the owner of Sawnee Dog Retreat, enjoys filming the charming (and well regulated) stampede that occurs when the dogs are allowed out into the yard.
Dogs require a lot of exercise and playtime. Dogs utilize play “as a means of establishing relationships with other dogs, and can also derive social information from observing play between third parties,” according to a 2015 study by Bristol University researchers.
When roughly 85 dogs raced out into the yard one day, Livezey had a camera set up. The majority of the time, it captured dogs jumping into the air as they went outside to play – until Copper came along.
The clip that results captures the chaos as a veritable army of dogs is let loose to play.
The sight is made much more dramatic by the fact that Livezey has slowed the picture down, with Wagner’s “Ride of the Valkyries” providing the ideal accompaniment to the amazing scene.
Copper, a Brittany spaniel, was really eager to go outside and play with his mates on that particular day.
As he sprinted into the yard, he attempted to take a shortcut by hopping over several of the dogs running alongside him, but his plan failed miserably.
Copper smashed into the other dogs instead of floating over them and flew straight into the camera.
@sawneedogs The crash at the end though 😂…dog & phone are both ok!!! #sawneedogs #wipeout #fyp ♬ Wagner-Ride of the Valkyries – 中国爱乐乐团
What would have been a captivating film of dogs of all shapes and sizes leaping around in joy takes on a dramatic new twist when two happy spaniels clash as they approach the camera.
Of course, Livezey and the rest of the staff were nearby, and they promptly walked over to check on Copper. Fortunately, he remained completely unmoved and unconcerned.
Livezey told The Dodo, “He just hopped right up after his tumble and kept on playing.”
The end product is cinematic gold, with a scenario that wouldn’t be out of place in a Hollywood blockbuster.
Those thoughts were shared by many of the people who commented on the video on social media.
The spectacular collision was described by Alice Nanami as “straight out of a war film,” while Kenneth McMillan called the video “a masterpiece.”
“Did JJ Abrams or Michael Bay direct this?” aloft8106 wondered, Doboruchi comparing the film to a “trailer for a new Marvel movie.”
“Me and my siblings when my dad buys McDonald’s,” Galaxis Hinata said of the video.
Meanwhile, Kristen M. Harding exclaimed, “This is the greatest thing I’ve ever seen.”
Caitlin Hathcock wrote a review that wouldn’t have been out of place in Variety, while Heyitsron was blown away by the “cinematography.” She wrote, “The drama! the action!”
“This is the best movie I’ve ever seen. We need more!!!!”
Livezey was quick to point out that the dog in the video suffering a fall was “ok” in a TikTok post beside the word “wipeout.”
